Meet us in P-Town, it’s goin down…

Portland in the summertime is just about as good as it gets. Not only do we have gorgeous weather and endless outdoor activities {thanks to our close proximity to rivers/lakes, Mt. Hood, and the Columbia Gorge}, there’s also a constant flow of events happening all over the area, all summer long. With the most breweries per capita of any city in the country, there are brewer’s festivals pretty much every weekend, plus outdoor fairs and festivals that wouldn’t be appropriate any other time of year due to the rain. Seeing as we plan on taking full advantage of all PDX has to offer this summer, we wanted to share with you a few must-dos for the weekend ahead.

Food, booze, more food, and a little entertainment thrown in, all for a great cause…yup – sounds like something we’d enjoy 🙂 The Bite is held annually  at Tom McCall Waterfront Park downtown Portland, benefiting Special Olympics Oregon (which is celebrating it’s 40th year!). The event is today and tomorrow from 11 am – 10 pm, and Sunday 11 am – 8 pm. Enjoy the best food, beer and wine the Northwest has to offer, with gorgeous downtown PDX as a backdrop. General admission is $5, with the option of purchasing a weekend pass for $15. Check out their website for more info and to order tix.

Ahh the Clark County Fair. So delightfully tacky that you just can’t stay away. Chock full of amusement park rides, farm animals galore, and the unhealthiest food on the planet, and yet always a TON of fun. This is the last weekend of the fair, so make sure you get your butt up to Ridgefield before it disappears for the summer! Just cool it on the elephant ears (Jamie’s guilty pleasure), you only burn so many calories screaming your head off on the Ring of Fire… Admission is $10 for a one-day pass, not including the cost of ride tickets. To order, check out their website.

If you are a native to the area, you are probably thinking, “since when does Vancouver have it’s own Brewfest?” Um, since now people. This is the first annual Vancouver Brewfest USA {…because no doubt this gets confused with the other Vancouver}, and we are beyond jacked that it’s walking distance from our condo. The event is today from 3-9 pm and tomorrow from 12-9 pm at Esther Short Park in the oh-so-metropolitan {ha…not} downtown Vancouver. There will be food, music, and of course BEER, and the package price of $21 gets you admission, a drink cup and 8 sample tickets, benefiting a number of local charities. Tickets are no longer available online, but you can buy them at the door.

So get out this weekend and enjoy these fabulous events! I mean the area must be pretty great if the Real World Portland is currently filming here… Do like we’re planning to and make it a great weekend!
